stuff

Ok, so I haven't written in my LJ for far too long...This needs to change, I like writing in LJ. Although, this will probably not change too much until late august, but I'm going to try and change it,....

My brain is going about 1000 miles a minute lately...been thinking wayyyy too much...

Tuesday I leave for Australia for 6 weeks! which is extremely scary and exciting! I've never been away from Michigan for that long, and i'm excited for the oppurtunity. I'm a bit nervous as well, things like this tend to change a person, and I wonder what perspectives of mine will change due to this trip, although anything that happens will be good, an experience such as this is invaluable.

Last night was Kellies wedding reception, it was beautiful. I had a lot of fun, I wish everyone had the oppurtunity to stay longer, I really miss all of my friends, I dont get to see anyone nearly enough. This year I want to travel more on weekends to see people (this should be easier since I wont have to teach on Saturday mornings which took huge chunks out of my weekend last year). Back to the reception though: Kellie looked beautiful, absolutely glamorous. I'm glad I've seen more of her lately, as well as her husband, getting to know him a little better. Last night was wonderful the more I think about it, I got to see so many people I never see.

Maybe in August I'll try to have some sort of picnic somewhere or something to try and see people. Who knows.

So I got my hair done yesterday, highlites, and they are a little (a lot) lighter than I thought they would be, and I'm not sure how I feel about them, accept for the fact that i know I spent too much money on them. They aren't terrible, I just dont know if I like them better than my old hair color or not, oh well, its just hair, i just feel weird everytime I look in the mirror.

It seems like everything is happening this weekend! And I didnt know about any of it until the last minute! I guess it makes sense with the fourth being next week and all, but still I wish I could go to everything that i know about!

Spartan land

heyyyyyy there livejournal land....

So the last month has been ca-razy.....so I moved to East Lansing, and am now officially an MSU Spartan (not to say I wont be rooting for the good ol maize and blue come Saturday). I love the Art Education program here, especially my art ed class. Saturday morning I start teaching some Saturday morning art classes. I'm teaching 9-11 yr olds, I wanted to work with older kids, but this is an age group I'm at least familiar with. I really like the girl I'm partnered up to teach with too, we get a long really well and have quite similiar teaching philosophies. And next weekend I'm really excited for this Michigan Art Educators Association conference thingy, where among other things I will be learning how to fuse glass! (haha what a dork I've turned into, being excited over a conference). Hey if anyone is bored come Saturday afternoon they should visit East Lansing and watch the Michigan/Michigan State football game with me. It's great, cuz either way I'll be happy with the turn out! I have yet to actually go out around these parts, I need to start doing that.

So this is the crazy part of the semester where all of a sudden everything is due....I forgot about this stuff! papers, projects, and presentations; oh my! Oh well, I'm really happy with the way things are going thus far. Its also nice for the first time ever to live in the same city as the person I'm dating, although I'm not sure we see eachother more, but it is more accessible. It's also nice that I feel like I actually have made a few friends, which was something I was most definitely nervous about. I really like most of the students in the art school, and for the most part I'm pretty happy with my profs. This school year is going pretty well so far.

OHHHHH...so in the paper today there was the most hilariously terrible "front page" article. Since a lot of people here are going to ann arbor this weekend for the game someone decided they would review some places in ann arbor, so people dont get so "lost" while they're there. And its atrociously horrible the things that they point out....evidently these are the places of interest in ann arbor: Sweet U candy store, Safe Sex Store, Backroom pizza, Red Hot Lovers, Rick's, Skeepers, and the Blind Pig. And while I'll admit that I love the Blind Pig, and the Safe Sex Store is an interesting store, that is probably the poorest review of a city that I've ever read. I dunno, I found it funny. Just because you can tell the only part of ann arbor the reviewer went to was the south university area, and there are plenty more interesting areas. It also criticizes ann arbor for being so confusing especially compared to east lansing, where downtown is very easy to navigate...and while I'll admit the downtown area here is much easier to navigate, i am ALWAYS getting lost on campus, something that didnt happen to me too often in ann arbor. I guess I'm just being a jerk about it, oh well.

Helllllo Livejournal! It's been a while.

Wellllll....
this was a pretty good weekend, Friday night Steve and i hung out with some of his friends which was fun, we didnt really do all that much, but it was still good times none-the-less.

Yesterday we went to a 4th of July family party thing at his Grandpa's place, which is absolutely freakin gorgeous. His grandpa and his grandpa's wife own the coolest things ever. First off they have an absolutely gorgeous collection of flowers in the shade gardens througout the property, and in those gardens as well as a few other places are these gorgeous statues, and not just any statues, but all of them from the actual places that they look like they should come from. I saw this really cool one, with a fountain attachment in the middle of children playing that is from thailand. I didnt see too much of the interior of their house, but what I did see seemed to be filled with the same cool artifacts. Plus the property is on a pretty lake. So that was gorgeous.

After the July festivities we went to tastefest to see The New Pornographers play which was fun. We met up with a couple of Steve's friends, and enjoyed the free concertness. I had forgotten that I've been to tastefest before, a couple of years ago, with betz and rosie, although I forget what band we saw, all i remember is watching from the parking garage. Do you guys remember that?

Today i only work from 8-2 which I'm really excited about, plus at 10 we're packing up the room so they can put in new carpeting, and then...i get 6 days in a row off! Yay! very exciting. I'll be in Commerce this week, so people are there should give me a call!
